Prof. Dr. Ng Wee Kiong is a visionary entrepreneur and the founder as well as current Executive Chairman of the AIS International Education
Institution. His mission is to shape and promote quality education that delivers high professional standards for future careers and industries. He has spent over 35 years in the beauty and medical sciences sector.
He pursued his early studies at National Chung Hsing University in Taiwan, majoring in Economics and Law. After graduating in 1979, he worked in Hong Kong for two years before traveling to Europe in 1981. During his time in Milan, Italy, he conducted international market research on the European and Eastern beauty industries. He subsequently continued his studies in the United Kingdom, focusing on preventive medicine and skin physiology, and later earned a doctoral degree in a related field.
In the 1990s, Prof.Dr. Ng expanded his business by establishing 60 chain beauty salons across Malaysia and Singapore. In 1999, he drew inspiration from the ISO EN45013 (personal certification) awarded by a committee in the Netherlands, which led him to champion the development of ISO 17024 personal certification in the beauty industry. Entering the new millennium, he foresaw major opportunities and growth potential in the beauty sector, along with the need for greater regulation and standards—especially in the Asia-Pacific region. As a co-founder of IPEC, he initiated the ISO/IEC 17024:2012 Beauty Professionals Certification Program and serves as Chairman of the IPEC Beauty Technical Committee, leading the establishment of industry standards.
A prominent speaker at numerous trainings, seminars, and forums related to beauty and aesthetic medical science, Prof.Dr. Ng shares his extensive experience and expertise to guide the industry toward higher professional standards. He has also served as an external examiner for
Malaysia’s Department of Skills Development
(Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran, JPK).
In 2009, Prof.Dr. Ng was honoured to be an invited speaker by the Department of Standards Malaysia—under the former Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI)—to discuss certification standards in beauty science. In 2014, he was appointed by IPEC as Chairman of the Beauty Science and Technology Committee, and in 2015, he officially founded and chaired this committee. That same year, he established the Association of International Certified Aesthetician (AICA), a professional body for aesthetic medical practitioners. On November 25, 2015, during the First ASEAN International Personal Certification ISO/IEC 17024 Conference, he was the keynote speaker for WG2—Wellness, Beauty, and Advanced Aesthetics.
In 2016, he facilitated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) among AICA, the Department of Standards Malaysia, and IPEC Certification, enabling AICA to operate as a self-regulatory professional entity. AICA also invited Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, and Singapore—six ASEAN countries in total—to sign an MoU aimed at creating a unified standard platform for human resource development and mutual recognition of professional qualifications.
In 2020, referencing Malaysia’s Consumer Protection Act of 1999, Prof.Dr. Ng published the Beauty Therapist & Aesthetic Specialist Guideline.
In 2023, to meet professional qualification requirements, AICA introduced an internationally aligned professional aesthetic medical insurance program, thereby safeguarding consumer rights and reinforcing beauticians’ professional standing.In recognition of his four decades of contributions to advancing and improving the local beauty industry, Professor Huang received the “Most Inspirational Figure” award from ECMI. In 2019, he was invited to
co-organize the ISO/IEC 17024 International Personal Certification Capacity Building event under APEC, held in Kuala Lumpur by the Department of Standards Malaysia.
